How to convert AVIF to PNG
- Choose your AVIF files, or drag and drop them onto the box. You can add many at once.
- Wait a moment while each file is converted; the progress shows above the list.
- Download each PNG with its button, or use Download all (.zip) when you converted several.
AVIF to PNG or JPG?
PNG is lossless and supports transparency, so it keeps the decoded AVIF image exactly, including any see-through areas. That makes it the better choice for logos, graphics and images you will edit. For photos you want to share, AVIF to JPG makes much smaller files.
Your browser decodes the AVIF here. Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari can open AVIF; if a file fails, update your browser and try again.
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. The converter is a web page that runs in your browser. Your files are read and converted on your own device and are never sent to a server.
Is transparency kept?
Yes. PNG supports transparency, so transparent areas in the AVIF stay transparent in the PNG.
Why is the PNG so much bigger than the AVIF?
AVIF uses very efficient lossy compression, while PNG stores every pixel without loss. The same picture therefore needs a much bigger PNG file.
What happens with animated AVIF files?
Only the first frame is converted. PNG files made here are still images.
