How to convert PNG to ICO
- Choose your PNG files, or drag and drop them onto the box. You can add many at once.
- Wait a moment while each file is converted; the progress shows above the list.
- Download each ICO with its button, or use Download all (.zip) when you converted several.
What is inside the icon
The ICO file contains the image at 16, 32, 48, 64, 128 and 256 pixels, so Windows and browsers can pick the size they need. Each size is stored as a PNG inside the icon, which Windows Vista and later and all current browsers read. A non-square image is centred on a transparent square, not stretched. For the sharpest result, start from a square image at least 256 × 256 pixels.
Using it as a favicon
Name the file favicon.ico and put it in the root folder of your website, or link it from your pages with <link rel="icon" href="/favicon.ico">.
