About PhotoConvert

PhotoConvert is a set of free image converters that work entirely in your web browser: HEIC to JPG, HEIC to PNG, WebP to PNG, WebP to JPG, JFIF to JPG, AVIF to JPG, Compress JPEG Images, AVIF to PNG, JFIF to PNG, SVG to PNG, PNG to PDF, HEIC to PDF, PNG to ICO. There is no account, no app to install and no charge.

How it works

When you choose a file, the page reads it on your device. WebP, AVIF, JFIF, JPEG, PNG and SVG images are decoded by your browser itself. HEIC photos, which most browsers cannot open, are decoded by an open-source HEIC decoder that is downloaded from this site the first time you convert a HEIC file. The image is then drawn onto a canvas and saved as JPG or PNG with your browser’s built-in encoder. PDF and ICO files are put together by this site’s own code in your browser, from those JPG and PNG images. Your files are never uploaded.

Photos are turned the right way up using the rotation stored in the original file. The converted file does not keep the original metadata such as camera details or GPS location.

Open-source software

HEIC decoding uses libheif-js version 1.23.5, a WebAssembly build of libheif, licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3 (the license file also lists the licenses of the libraries it includes). It is served unmodified as separate files, and its source code is available from the link above.
