How to convert JFIF to JPG
- Choose your JFIF files, or drag and drop them onto the box. You can add many at once.
- Set the quality with the slider.
- Download each JPG with its button, or use Download all (.zip) when you converted several.
What is a JFIF file?
JFIF stands for JPEG File Interchange Format. A .jfif file is a JPEG image with a different file extension, which Windows and some browsers use when you save pictures from the web. Because some websites only accept files ending in .jpg or .jpeg, converting gives you a file with the expected extension.
Can I just rename it?
Often, yes: renaming photo.jfif to photo.jpg usually works because the image inside is already JPEG. This converter re-saves the image as a fresh JPG, which also removes the original metadata and works for many files at once.
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. The converter is a web page that runs in your browser. Your files are read and converted on your own device and are never sent to a server.
Is JFIF the same as JPG?
Yes, a JFIF file contains a JPEG image. Only the extension differs, and some sites reject it for that reason.
Does converting lower the quality?
Re-saving a JPEG compresses it again, which can lose a little detail. At the default quality of 92 the difference is hard to see. Set the slider to 100 for the smallest loss.
Does the converted file keep the photo’s metadata?
No. The new file is drawn from the decoded pixels, so camera details, date taken and GPS location from the original are not copied into it. Keep the original if you need that information.
